In my Capacity as a Bond Fan

The anticipation has been mounting, I've been talking about it for so long and finally I got to watch SKYFALL. Straight from the top shelf and way before it had been seen or premiered in many parts of the world.

Adele did the Soundtrack, which had blown me away weeks before the movie was out. That woman can sing for DAAAYS!

Heineken brought an exclusive media screening to us courtesy of FOX Cinemas at Sarit Centre. Bright monday morning it was when I left the house not knowing what to expect from a movie that has been extremely hyped. My only hope was that it matched the expectations of the little child inside me.

My right had been earned to be featured amongst the exclusive guests invited to this event. We get there to find cocktail tables with buckets of cold Heinekens waiting for us.

The food and ambience was amazing and for a Monday drink up, not bad at all. Finally we get into the cinema and after a brief introduction by Koen Morshuis, the General Manager of HEINEKEN East Africa, the movie begins.

I will take this opportunity to mention that Daniel Craig is looking incredibly handsome, rugged and hot as always. The story is of a fallen agent ( played by Javier Bardem) who is trying to get his revenge on M who had apparently sold him out to the enemy in the past and was going to have him killed. He manages to escape but has been looking to get back at MI6 by launching parallel missions and hacking into the secret files back at the HQ. The story also includes a short love affair between Bond and Severine, this year's Bond Girl (played by Bérénice Marlohe), who apparently works for the Villain Raoul Silva (Bardem).

The struggle to have M killed makes for most of the story, with Bond struggling to protect her at all cost and he is forced to return to where he grew up "Skyfall" in order to make peace with his past as well as carry out the obliteration of the enemy. I will warn you that a very important person dies during this 45 minute scene.

For all the action the movie brought and camera shots filled with the famous silhouettes the series is known for - and extra 2 points for the team from me!

You must go and watch the movie and help me figure out if Daniel Craig will feature in the next movie. He made for an awesome Bond but I think his time might be done here in Flemming's little world.

Anyways, I ended up winning an extra ticket to the formal launch of the movie that thursday that was happening at IMAX, thanks to my AWESOME pronunciation of the Bond Girl's real name! (Oh, I'd like to send a shout out to my High School French teacher)

So, as I leave the cinema void of what to do with the rest of my life (because I feel completely and hopelessly lost after being immersed in SKYFALL for almost 2h 30min)I walk to the exit of the cinema, and I am given a 1 litre limited edition SKYFALL 007 Branded Heineken bottle, and a SKYFALL 007 branded glass. WHARRIS THIS??? (Definitely not heaven)

I step out excited and Twitpicing every inch of this fabulousness when I find more Heineken Buckets filled with the cold elixir of life. MORE HEINEKEN. Again, not bad for a Monday.

We sip and enjoy as we share in the excitement of the overly successful movie that is SKYFALL and realize that after finally watching this movie, we have to return to the boring routine of our lives. :-( A sad day it was.

When I got a call that I have been invited to the formal launch on Thursday despite my winning of a ticket. I just smiled to myself and gave my last point to #TeamHeineken

10/10 guys!

That was an awesome month filled with fun and excitement. I have always loved Heineken, but this, this affirmed my marriage to it! I. WILL. NEVER. LEAVE!

James Bond 50th anniversary celebrations!

On top of my man James Bond coming back soon, he celebrates his 50th anniversary on 5th October 2012.

I remember when a really good friend first gave me the whole Bond movie collection, I'm talking all 22 installments, I didn't know what to do with so many movies most of which were made tens of years before I was a thought on this planet.

22 movies later and 50 years on, we are still celebrating this character that Ian Fleming probably created in a dusty room with an old school typewriter and an overactive imagination. He brought James Bond to life in a way that no other writer has ever been able to bring a fictitious character and he's become the suave and savvy hero that every man wishes he could be and every woman wishes he could seduce.

Who is James Bond?

Well, he has changed over the years starring the legendary Sean Connery in the first official film (1962) of the longest running and most successful series ever created! Remember him in Dr. No? He played the role for 7 sequels before passing the baton (and the Martini, of course!).

5 others have played the role after him and have achieved paralleled success if not more George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and finally Daniel Craig- who stars in the most anticipated movie of the year 'SKYFALL 007' which premiers later this month.

We have watched the different sultry Bond Girls steal James Bond's heart, and he break theirs in return. From Honey Rider played by Ursula Andress, who by the way set the standards for all women worldwide in their quests to come out of a water body after a dip looking overly sexed, to Wai Lin played by Michelle Yeoh to Pussy Galore (who is now world acclaimed for having the BEST name ever in a movie) played by Honor Blackman (another pun here guys, do you see it? LOL) and to the most loved Bond Girl Jinx (according to me i.e.) played by Halle Berry - seriously, who will ever forget that coming out of the water scene in an orange bikini and a white belt barely covering that HOT bod!
Basically the role of the ladies is to offer a distraction for the audience and of course JB himself while helping out in his secret missions but some acted as villains as well.

Heineken has partnered with the franchise to bring the premier of SKYFALL to East Africa exclusively on the 25th of October 2012. In Kenya, the highly anticipated event will be held at the new IMAX theatre and will see several invited guests enjoy a night out viewing the movie and interacting with some of the special fans who get to win tickets online.

My word is my BOND... Also, I write QUALITY in caps.

There is something about a man with superhero tendencies, a man who can come and save you, a mysterious man who like the wind shows up and blows you away. There is just something about this man. Your regular manly man who likes his drink a certain way, likes a particular kind of get up, is stylish, is trendy, smells a certain way and is always on time (in our dreams right ladies?) .

Needless to say, this man can only exist in the movies or in our dreams lol! For women the likelihood to be inclined to a man in uniform has long been forgotten with the entrance of James Bond. The most confident man in the world, the one that will ask you to jump out of a moving train (and yes you will), the smartest and most witty man you have ever seen is here again...Yes folks, James Bond is back! And he is back with a vengeance. We have watched the series evolve over the years, gotten lost in a world of adventure and seen him change girls as regularly as he changes his underwear!(if at all he does)

But if you are used to the same old Bond story...you are in for a rude one friends! Here's why:


(a) (My favorite beer) Heineken is proud to partner with the JB franchise to bring you this historic movie as the 23rd installment of the Bond series...'SKYFALL 007' which will premier worldwide on the 23rd of October.

(b) We all know that Bond is a drinker and in this movie, it is speculated that our beloved Daniel(#sexbeast) Craig will be ordering and drinking Heineken beers. So is it safe to say that he is shaken but not stirred by the new alterations? :-) However, I have a feeling that Ian Fleming will be turning in his grave and cringing at this one. What do you guys reckon? Beers over Martini?

(c) Skyfall will be seen in East Africa for the first time before anywhere else in the world by the media in an exclusive pre-launch.


(d) The local premier that is set for the 25th of October will be seen at exactly the same time across the East African countries of Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya.


(e) For the first time, James Bond will feature in a promotional ad by the sponsor Heineken, alongside the new Bond Girl (which brings me to my next point, but first check out the TV Commercial here )


The new bond girl, Bérénice Marlohe (French classes required to pronounce this one), is that hot chick going to make grown men lose focus! Have you seen that woman?!! She is of French and Cambodian descent and oozes sexiness form here to China. I think my best one since Halle quite frankly. I'd like to know what the lads think of this bird though…hit or miss?
