The anticipation has been mounting, I've been talking about it for so long and finally I got to watch SKYFALL. Straight from the top shelf and way before it had been seen or premiered in many parts of the world.
Adele did the Soundtrack, which had blown me away weeks before the movie was out. That woman can sing for DAAAYS!
Heineken brought an exclusive media screening to us courtesy of FOX Cinemas at Sarit Centre. Bright monday morning it was when I left the house not knowing what to expect from a movie that has been extremely hyped. My only hope was that it matched the expectations of the little child inside me.
My right had been earned to be featured amongst the exclusive guests invited to this event. We get there to find cocktail tables with buckets of cold Heinekens waiting for us.
One point for the team.
I sit and wait as we chat and interact with other members of the blogger and media community, another surprise
Another point for the team.
The food and ambience was amazing and for a Monday drink up, not bad at all. Finally we get into the cinema and after a brief introduction by Koen Morshuis, the General Manager of HEINEKEN East Africa, the movie begins.
I will take this opportunity to mention that Daniel Craig is looking incredibly handsome, rugged and hot as always. The story is of a fallen agent ( played by Javier Bardem) who is trying to get his revenge on M who had apparently sold him out to the enemy in the past and was going to have him killed. He manages to escape but has been looking to get back at MI6 by launching parallel missions and hacking into the secret files back at the HQ. The story also includes a short love affair between Bond and Severine, this year's Bond Girl (played by Bérénice Marlohe), who apparently works for the Villain Raoul Silva (Bardem).
The struggle to have M killed makes for most of the story, with Bond struggling to protect her at all cost and he is forced to return to where he grew up "Skyfall" in order to make peace with his past as well as carry out the obliteration of the enemy. I will warn you that a very important person dies during this 45 minute scene.
For all the action the movie brought and camera shots filled with the famous silhouettes the series is known for - and extra 2 points for the team from me!
You must go and watch the movie and help me figure out if Daniel Craig will feature in the next movie. He made for an awesome Bond but I think his time might be done here in Flemming's little world.
Anyways, I ended up winning an extra ticket to the formal launch of the movie that thursday that was happening at IMAX, thanks to my AWESOME pronunciation of the Bond Girl's real name! (Oh, I'd like to send a shout out to my High School French teacher)
Another point for the team.
So, as I leave the cinema void of what to do with the rest of my life (because I feel completely and hopelessly lost after being immersed in SKYFALL for almost 2h 30min)I walk to the exit of the cinema, and I am given a 1 litre limited edition SKYFALL 007 Branded Heineken bottle, and a SKYFALL 007 branded glass. WHARRIS THIS??? (Definitely not heaven)
Three points for the team.
I step out excited and Twitpicing every inch of this fabulousness when I find more Heineken Buckets filled with the cold elixir of life. MORE HEINEKEN. Again, not bad for a Monday.
Two points for the team.
We sip and enjoy as we share in the excitement of the overly successful movie that is SKYFALL and realize that after finally watching this movie, we have to return to the boring routine of our lives. :-( A sad day it was.
When I got a call that I have been invited to the formal launch on Thursday despite my winning of a ticket. I just smiled to myself and gave my last point to #TeamHeineken
10/10 guys!
That was an awesome month filled with fun and excitement. I have always loved Heineken, but this, this affirmed my marriage to it! I. WILL. NEVER. LEAVE!
You know you love me,

James Bond 50th anniversary celebrations!
On top of my man James Bond coming back soon, he celebrates his 50th anniversary on 5th October 2012.
I remember when a really good friend first gave me the whole Bond movie collection, I'm talking all 22 installments, I didn't know what to do with so many movies most of which were made tens of years before I was a thought on this planet.
22 movies later and 50 years on, we are still celebrating this character that Ian Fleming probably created in a dusty room with an old school typewriter and an overactive imagination. He brought James Bond to life in a way that no other writer has ever been able to bring a fictitious character and he's become the suave and savvy hero that every man wishes he could be and every woman wishes he could seduce.
Who is James Bond?
Well, he has changed over the years starring the legendary Sean Connery in the first official film (1962) of the longest running and most successful series ever created! Remember him in Dr. No? He played the role for 7 sequels before passing the baton (and the Martini, of course!).
5 others have played the role after him and have achieved paralleled success if not more George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and finally Daniel Craig- who stars in the most anticipated movie of the year 'SKYFALL 007' which premiers later this month.
Check out the timeline for all the movies here
We have watched the different sultry Bond Girls steal James Bond's heart, and he break theirs in return. From Honey Rider played by Ursula Andress, who by the way set the standards for all women worldwide in their quests to come out of a water body after a dip looking overly sexed, to Wai Lin played by Michelle Yeoh to Pussy Galore (who is now world acclaimed for having the BEST name ever in a movie) played by Honor Blackman (another pun here guys, do you see it? LOL) and to the most loved Bond Girl Jinx (according to me i.e.) played by Halle Berry - seriously, who will ever forget that coming out of the water scene in an orange bikini and a white belt barely covering that HOT bod!
Basically the role of the ladies is to offer a distraction for the audience and of course JB himself while helping out in his secret missions but some acted as villains as well.
Heineken has partnered with the franchise to bring the premier of SKYFALL to East Africa exclusively on the 25th of October 2012. In Kenya, the highly anticipated event will be held at the new IMAX theatre and will see several invited guests enjoy a night out viewing the movie and interacting with some of the special fans who get to win tickets online.
If you you are in Nairobi and would like to attend the movie premier and believe you have the true BOND SPIRIT, I'd like to give YOU a ticket to come and enjoy a star studded night out with Heineken at IMAX theatre in Nairobi and celebrate the return of Mr. Bond with us.
For that...tell me though, which was the first Movie in the series not to use the title of an Ian Fleming novel? And who played James Bond in it?
I'll select the answer at random during the day as well as announce it and will request the winner to send in their details in order to be contacted about how to collect the ticket :)

My word is my BOND... Also, I write QUALITY in caps.
There is something about a man with superhero tendencies, a man who can come and save you, a mysterious man who like the wind shows up and blows you away. There is just something about this man. Your regular manly man who likes his drink a certain way, likes a particular kind of get up, is stylish, is trendy, smells a certain way and is always on time (in our dreams right ladies?) .
Needless to say, this man can only exist in the movies or in our dreams lol! For women the likelihood to be inclined to a man in uniform has long been forgotten with the entrance of James Bond. The most confident man in the world, the one that will ask you to jump out of a moving train (and yes you will), the smartest and most witty man you have ever seen is here again...Yes folks, James Bond is back! And he is back with a vengeance. We have watched the series evolve over the years, gotten lost in a world of adventure and seen him change girls as regularly as he changes his underwear!(if at all he does)
But if you are used to the same old Bond story...you are in for a rude one friends! Here's why:
(a) (My favorite beer) Heineken is proud to partner with the JB franchise to bring you this historic movie as the 23rd installment of the Bond series...'SKYFALL 007' which will premier worldwide on the 23rd of October.
(b) We all know that Bond is a drinker and in this movie, it is speculated that our beloved Daniel(#sexbeast) Craig will be ordering and drinking Heineken beers. So is it safe to say that he is shaken but not stirred by the new alterations? :-) However, I have a feeling that Ian Fleming will be turning in his grave and cringing at this one. What do you guys reckon? Beers over Martini?
(c) Skyfall will be seen in East Africa for the first time before anywhere else in the world by the media in an exclusive pre-launch.
(d) The local premier that is set for the 25th of October will be seen at exactly the same time across the East African countries of Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya.
(e) For the first time, James Bond will feature in a promotional ad by the sponsor Heineken, alongside the new Bond Girl (which brings me to my next point, but first check out the TV Commercial here )
The new bond girl, Bérénice Marlohe (French classes required to pronounce this one), is that hot chick going to make grown men lose focus! Have you seen that woman?!! She is of French and Cambodian descent and oozes sexiness form here to China. I think my best one since Halle quite frankly. I'd like to know what the lads think of this bird though…hit or miss?
James Bond is giving the die-hard fans a chance to experience Skyfall online by playing the interactive game Crack The Case. Check out the promo video and short game for that is right here and learn more about how to get your case crackalackin’!
Also, look out for Crack The Case activations by our very own Bond Girls in your local bars, buy a Heineken and if you are spotted, you could be well on your way to see the premier ahead of everyone else and get to interact with everything and everyone Heineken.
What are your favorite Daniel Craig moments?
What about Heineken moments? Share them on the Heineken Facebook page following page and who knows... you might win yourself something... :-) :-)

Apology for leaving blogpost.com LOL
Have you ever had one of those “wow! Finally!” moments? This is exactly how I feel now after getting this tumblr account. Iv been meaning to start a new blog for a while. Well I may offend a few with the following statements but I must give everybody here a sneak prev on what I will be ranting and raving about on this page, so here goes… I am a Justin Beiber lover (aka belieber as we have come to be grouped) fashion is me, happiness is I, the Twilight Saga, they call us TWIHARDS #teamedwsrd, is what I was put on this earth to watch out for and Hanna Montana and Miley Cyrus are both my role models even though they are the same person! I definitely get the best of both worlds . I understand all cool things and I breath perfume and bathe in lemons.. Also one thing I have in common with Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian (apart from astounding wealth and formidable beauty) ahem…is our ability to assist the retail world expand even during the recession (what does that word even mean). These things should not imply that iv got nothing inbetween my ears but you should know that I am the mother of World News, different generes of Music, Cyber space, IT, Programming, the different Design genres and their related technological advances, the Culinary world, Cheer and Laughter, Alcohol and Cigarettes and great clothes. My life revolves around driving up and down the city, mostly like a mad woman on horsepower, and ensuring entertainment is sufficienly distributed (interpret this a you will). I choose to be truthful because If I want to hurt others and hence inspire them to channel different avenues of self expression (like starting a blog or a rant fest on twitter or facebook)I will have made for example, Mark Zuckerberg richer and controbuted to the global economy, thus more power to me. I don’t cry, i’m one of those that was made in China or Chyna as a good friend would have it. Emotions were all stuffed into the hearts of the gay community, the rest of the world population was given reasoning abilities and somthing not so heavy above their shoulders! That said! I might have reduced my chances of attaining a following with that introduction innit? Believe in me and I will do my best! God is love!

Carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders again?
Dear Mike Posner, First of all, what makes you think that you shouldn’t be ignored? It’s amazing what ammount of false confidence you have instilled in today’s youth with that dreadful song! I’m yet to meet someone that YOU are cooler than.
Since you have already decided that music, as a career, is lucrative enough to help you complete college in the USA I must commend you for thinking on your toes there, whoosh (wipes sweat off forehead) You almost didn’t graduate! Concerning your cynical view of people that dress well in designer attire and shades as you would have it, it’s sad that you tend to fall on the opposite side of the divide. Therefore, relating to you and also being seen with you, will reflect heavily on our reputation (we cool kids) and also somthing like this could interrupt the rhythm of our social climbing ambitions.
Feeling ostracized is part of life, me for instance not remembering your name is also a part of life - you have to accept this as your fate. Creating a dubut album about what an epic failure you are, isn’t. I think the pressures of having a receeding hairline have finally hit it with you, but please don’t lose it - YET! You are a very…umm..creative..yes! Creative young man and possibly handsome In the eyes of your beholders (read groupies) so there is hope that you could release a sophomore album.
Kindly refrain from making statements such as “ive got you all figured out” that one time you hang out with us was because one of our friends was screwing your friend and you had pot on you, so don’t get it twisted.
In order to alleviate the situation, I hope it helps that I bothered to copy your song into my iPod(I got it from someone in the residence hall) and we all agreed that in the end, you will still always be the sore loser in a huge Pleather jacket who could only seek solace in a virtual world where nobody knows him.
You were too school for cool anyway!
Loads of love and best wishes you one hit NO-WONDER!

She is Pretty... For a Dark Skinned Girl Part II
Some Facts about women:
We are our own worst enemies when it comes to empowering each other.
We do not support each other’s growth and development; instead we bash one another in all manner and form.
We seek refuge in the images given to us by the world on a silver platter and spend our lives trying to live up to the expectations of six billion people of whom 99.99 percent, we do not know.
We follow blindly in the footsteps of those we know will offer us temporary solutions to our long term problems and leave our eyes wide shut to the chance of better living.
Some Facts about black women:
We are not confident enough to embrace our own culture and heritage; this has left room for us to be extremely inundated by slight changes in the flow of the world.
We are no longer interested in feeding our own needs first before fulfilling anybody else’s, we have no identity hence.
We are on a constant prawl for the next thing that will bring us closest to a Caucasian appearance, implying that this is “true beauty” obviously admitting that our own look is as good as a fish on a bicycle (not a sight!)
We do not appreciate diversity as a means to the end as intended by God in the first place (ref. Genesis Chapter 1 through 10)
Other facts
So many women in our society today have taken to the belief that anything that is not dark, or brown, is beautiful. The one gift given by God and is most unappreciated is the diversity in human beings. Women especially have taken this on another tangent that is proving to be more and more dangerous than just a simple concern for the society. In our society, conforming is the norm and “being like” is the term, black women have reverted to a point where it is more important to give the illusion of being like a white person than behaving like a cultured and well brought up person. The number of black women that do not feel appreciated and secure has vastly increased and so has the need to bleach their skin in order to be in the market (whichever market that is).
Being darker skinned for a black girl is comparable to a curse that has one bound for eternity (ref. society’s preferences); they can never look at a girl and tell her that she is gorgeous, when in actual sense she truly is, just because she is a tone down from all their expectations of this certain gorgeous. Instead synonyms such as ethnic and or African beauty or chocolate girl are employed and meant to make one feel like she fits in somewhere. We have even coined a new phrase “she is pretty…for a dark skinned girl” how juvenile! I wonder what Dr. Martin Luther King would do if he lived in our time (WWMLKD-what Would Martin Luther King Do)
We have made ourselves believe that men will not look at us or accept us if we do not fit into their quota of beauty that includes brightened skin and Caucasian looks. Not even by the greatness we have achieved in our lives and the people that we have come to be. Yes. We have stooped as low as making males choose our identity for us, and help us define our path in a not so very constructive manner. These so called “men” have proceeded to put pressure on women by indirectly suggesting their preferences through all channels possible, and being the driving force behind all sorts of negative demeaning pressures and challenges all black women will ever face in their life time. We bend over backwards and peg our every move on how to “improve” our looks much to their delight.
The way that we have seen the different color skinned girls treated in this day and age is alarming, when you watch television its nothing but almost white girls (originally black or bi racial) in all your commercials, music videos, even singers and actresses and you wonder whether the dark skinned girl ever made it to the auditions. Beyonce was always looked at as one of the hottest members of destiny’s child while Kelly Rowland took a back seat and was always considered the odd one out, not pretty, weird, bitchy. These stereotypes have reflected greatly on our viewers at home and they now perceive what they see on there as the holy truth.
You can keep Beyonce, thank you. I’ll have two Kelly Rowlands.
Disclaimer:
I would never like to put anyone else down by making this seem like a sermon about dark skinned women being the Jesus’ and shun everybody else. It is important to acknowledge that people are born different and have no choice in how they turn out to be, it is also importance to preach that we should embrace ourselves for who we are and appreciate our cultures and upbringing. We are therefore at liberty to entertain and mingle in other cultures as we please, as long as you are always a true representation of yourself.
It makes me sad to know that after the pain and torment black people have been through, we have still managed to come out the victims of our own struggle, we are now almost “racist” in our thoughts and deeds towards the different versions of ourselves. We have made a majority of girls insecure and afraid to believe in their own capabilities to come forth as the strong, brilliant and empowered women of the world because of the kind of segregation we have bestowed upon them.
I wonder who sets these kinds of standards in our society, is there a board of directors and trustees entrusted with this over the moon task of painting the world white? What a brilliant job. They must be the Picassos of our day with such refined skills. It must be the highest paying job in the world, bearing the weight of billions of the world’s population on your shoulder and daunting thousands more, I’m pretty sure whoever you are you wake up every day with the confidence of a thousand Spartans thinking that you have added value to the world. Pathetic.
Women for centuries have been oppressed and then when we have just overcome the final hurdle we realize that we still have to compete with ways of the world. The last thing any woman needs in this trying times is to have to cope with a rotten society, we need to be empowered and to seek happiness from within ourselves the kind of happiness that even when you are alone in the confines of your bedroom left only with your thoughts, you are able to smile and be satisfied with all the things you have done and decisions you have made.
One of the mysteries about skin altering I came across after watching the Tyra show one evening was as follows:
Some women are willing to do almost anything to lighten the color of their skin … including the use of bleach, despite the negative or harmful side effects. What’s really scary is that you can buy bleaching creams in stores across the country. While these creams are intended to be used on small spots to reduce scarring, as we saw on the show, some women slather creams over their entire bodies. But is the result worth the risk — even if the risk is cancer? Read on for the scary side effects of these controversial creams.
Mercury
Even small doses of Mercury can cause neurological damage. This concern is so great, Minnesota has outlawed cosmetics like skin lighteners that intentionally feature it. But some “mom and pop” shops carry creams with that contain extreme levels of such ingredients.
Hydroquinone
This component of many skin-bleaching techniques is also found in film developing products. (Note: Your body is a work of art, but should you treat it like a chemically processed photo in a darkroom? We think not!) The idea of using this ingredient didn’t sound good to the French, who banned it for fear of cancer risks.
Alpha Hydroxy Acids
These are most commonly found in facial chemical peels, which are better known as procedures reserved for serious and infrequent skin overhauls administered by professionals. These should not be in anything you use at home regularly.
Arsenic
Most people hear this word and immediately think “poison,” which is exactly what arsenic is. Not something you want to find on the list of ingredients in your face cream, but that might be the case with some skin lighteners.
SO WATCH WHAT YOU ARE PUTTING ON!
I hope that I can start up a conversation with this cause and let all the women out there know that they are beautiful no matter their skin tone and race. We need to create an atmosphere where we make our own standards and respect each other, this way we block out all negativity that comes in with the breeze of the ‘MANsoon’ and all other aspects of society that advocate for the destruction of women and their self esteem. This is just the beginning of something great, only as soon as we realize what we are capable of achieving.
peace and love

She is Pretty... For a Dark Skinned Girl
She walks the walk, she talks the talk
She looks the part; you feed off of her energy
She is confident and happy, but bound and broken
She loves and lives, but cries and doubts, although
She is beautiful, but she doesn’t know it.
She mocks herself, and stabs herself
She bleeds endlessly, and never moves on
She hates herself, she hates her fate
She feels alone, she needs to know why
She is beautiful, but she doesn’t know it.
She can dive and delve, in the contours of pigment
She is sensual and she is beautiful
She is cautious and she is versatile
She is a mirror of her society, to me
She is beautiful, and I know it.
She sheds the tears, of the African sun
She shouts the cry, of a bold spirit
She deserves a toast, for she plays her part
She was, she is, she will always be because
She is beautiful and she must know it.
She looks the part; you feed off of her energy
